Biography

Vincent van Wijk (1990) completed his Bachelor studies with Ali Groen and Alexei Ogrintchouk cum laude in 2013. in 2013, he continued his Masters at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague with Alexei Ogrintchouk (first oboist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) and Karel Schoofs (first oboist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic), and completed this in juni 2015.

He followed numerous masterclasses with a.o. Maurice Bourgue, Stefan Schilli, Hansjorg Schellenberger, Bart Schneemann and private lessons with Frank de Bruine, Remco de Vries, Lucas Macias Navarro, Dominik Wollenweber. He also won prizes at the Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland. In 2014 and 2015, he joined the NJO during several productions (Dutch National Youth Orchestra).

Since 2014, Vincent often plays on regular basis as principal oboe, second oboe or English horn player in professional orchestras and ensembles such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest), Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest), Radio Philharmonic Orchestra (Radio Filharmonisch Orkest) Netherlands Chamber Orchestra (Nederlands Kamer Orkest), Nederlands Philharmonic Orchestra (Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest), Dutch Ballet Orchestra (Het Balletorkest), The Hague Philharmonic (Residentie Orkest), Brussels Philharmonic and the Residentie Bach Orchestra (Residentie Bach Orkest).

Vincent regularly performs in chamber music recitals on all main stages in The Netherlands and in most countries in Europe. In january 2015, he is invited by the Dutch composer Martijn Padding to join him to Accra (Ghana) for a tour. In january 2016, tours to France with Aristos Quartet and a tour to the Dutch Embassy in Kenia are planned. He has also some experience in jazz: he played The Concierto d’Aranjuez with the famous David Liebmann, and he performed with Ryan Truesdell on North Sea Jazz Festival 2015 with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra.

Besides of playing the oboe and english horn, Vincent is producer of the Jazz Department at the Royal Conservatoire and director and founder of the Haags Kamer Orkest, a group of young talented professionals.
